How to tune a violin with pegs. Violin pegs are one of the many parts of the violin that are integral to its function. Continuous contact in this area is a must for the pegs to hold their tuning. Then with my right hand, i would turn the pegs on the right while plucking the strings with my left thumb.

This is because of the friction between the peg and the peg box. I use the pegs if my violin is really out of tune and i use the fine tuners if my violin is just a little out of tune, or needs a little extra “fine tuning”. Pegs can be hard to work with, stay in place unless exposed to extreme temperatures, or get rammed.

The best peg paste i have used is hill's peg paste which provides just the right balance, allowing lubrication for smooth peg rotation, but also friction to make the peg stay.
